The idea
One uninterrupted line from shoulder to floor, which is what makes a simple dress read as deliberate rather than plain. The V-neck opens the upper body and the belt is there if you want to break the line at the waist.
Fabric and feel
Cotton and linen. Light enough for hot weather, with enough body to hold the shape instead of collapsing against the leg.
Fit
Regular through the bust and hip, XS to 2XL. If you are between sizes and want the column effect, take the larger one.
