Mercer & Bloom was founded in 2012 in Hayes Valley, San Francisco, with a simple mission: to create timeless essentials designed to be worn for years — not seasons.

What began as a small studio rooted in craftsmanship slowly evolved into a neighborhood boutique defined by refined tailoring, neutral palettes, and pieces made to outlast trends. From the beginning, we chose intention over volume. Fewer collections. Better fabrics. Thoughtful construction. Clothing designed to move with you through different chapters of life.

For 14 years, we dressed women who value quality over noise and thoughtful design over fast fashion. Professionals building careers. Creatives shaping ideas. Mothers, founders, travelers. Women with full lives who didn’t want to replace their wardrobe every season — only refine it.

We built our brand in a post-recession retail climate, when conscious spending mattered.
We navigated a global pandemic that changed the way people shopped, lived, and connected.
We adapted through supply chain disruptions, fabric shortages, and rising production costs.

Through every challenge, our commitment stayed the same: never compromise on quality, never rush design, never follow trends for the sake of relevance.

But over the past few years, the reality of operating a small independent boutique in San Francisco has shifted dramatically. Increasing rent, sustained inflation, and rising operational expenses have made it impossible to continue sustainably without lowering the standards we stand for.

And that is something we will never do.

After 14 unforgettable years, Mercer & Bloom will be closing its doors permanently.

This final chapter is not about trends or new beginnings — it is about honoring what we built. Our final collection reflects the same craftsmanship, tailoring, and timeless aesthetic that defined us from day one.

Once sold out, it will not return.
